R.J. Browne

R.J. (Bobby) Browne has been a golf professional for over half a century and has been the resident professional at Laytown and Bettystown since 1967. Bobby played on the European Tour from 1962 until 1992 and the Senior Tour from 1992 - 2002. He has held numerous course records and he has also won the Lombard Trophy. He was chairman of the Irish region for seventeen years, helped found the W.P.G.A. and was chairman of the Irish P.G.A. when it amalgamated with the P.G.A. in 1975. R.J. is now an honorary member of the P.G.A.

COACHING : R.J. has taught many great golfers from Ryder Cup stars, Des Smyth and Philip Walton to current European Tour pro Michael Hoey, the British Amateur Winner. Local sisters Carol and Phil Wickham who represented Ireland on the European team, Irish champion Deirdre Smith, and many of today's up and coming young pros have been coached by R.J. The Junior programme at Laytown and Bettystown is overseen by R.J. and is considered one of the best in Ireland. You're never too young, too old, too good or too bad to benefit from the expert eye and experience of a lesson from Bobby.
